Our History

Kaminski and Sons Truck Equipment Inc. was established in 1971 by Jerry and Kathy Kaminski under the name Kaminski Refrigeration. It was located at 1689 Broadway near Bailey Avenue in Buffalo, New York.

Since his father worked in excavating and construction, Jerry Kaminski grew up around heavy trucks and equipment.

While the main focus of the company was to sell and service transport refrigeration units to the food, chemical, and pharmaceutical industries, Jerry and Kathy soon realized that it would be beneficial to offer other equipment and accessories to go along with the units. With the new trend of the larger trucking companies doing their own service work, they decided it was time to move into other areas of the trucking industry by offering more options in house.

With the addition of their first outside salesman in 1985, talk soon revolved around getting into truck equipment sales and service. They acquired a refrigeration and van body line, always looking for new ways to satisfy the needs of their customers. The growth of the business made it necessary to move into a larger facility at 245 Lewis Street, a few miles from the Broadway location.

In the fall of 1990, Jerry Jr. joined the company, after finishing his education in truck and auto repair and auto body repair. Growing up in the business beside his dad gave him a head start in fabrication and repair, as well as interaction with customers.

In the spring of 1993, their son Jamie came aboard after serving four years in the navy on the USS Nimitz during the Gulf War. Jamie managed the sales department and still holds that position today. Jerry’s wife Kathy started the business with him and works by his side as Vice President and financial manager.

Jerry Sr. and his sons Jerry Jr. and Jamie, have a combined total of over 75 years of experience in truck equipment sales and service. Over the past twenty years, Kaminski and Sons Truck Equipment has become the largest and oldest locally owned truck equipment house in Western New York.
